contents page analysis

Contents page analysis

House style- the house style is consistent throughout each kerrang magazine and is always made up of the same: font, colours, headings and the editor’s message is always apparent at the top of the page with a smaller picture of the front cover on its left.

Colour scheme- the colour scheme also fits in with the house style as it is also the same throughout each magazine with the colours: yellow, white and black. Yellow and black connote danger which links in with the theme/subgenre of the magazine as it is a rock magazine which is seen as almost anarchistic or (dangerous).

Layout-the layout is quite simple, the magazine consists of eight sub-images and one main image and all have the corresponding page on which their article can be found. This is also coherent with the house style-(font, colours, headings and the editor’s message is always apparent at the top of the page with a smaller picture of the front cover on its left.)

Features-the features are clearly shown and have the page numbers/ titles anchored into the image to save space. The house style is yet again shown here and also relate to the sub-genre-(rock).

Subscription-point of sale gives an incentive to reader to buy the subscription to get money off and also gets people who don’t buy the magazine weekly to start doing so.
